Pakistan has launched a new land-based trade corridor through Iran to enhance exports and regional connectivity. The initiative began with the departure of the first shipment of frozen beef from Karachi to Tashkent. The route operates under the Transports Internationaux Routiers system, aimed at simplifying cross-border trade and reducing delays. Officials say the corridor will significantly cut transportation time and improve trade efficiency. The shipment is being transported in refrigerated trucks to maintain quality during transit. The convoy will enter Iran through the Gabd-Reemdan border before continuing toward Central Asia. Authorities have also improved procedures at key border points including Taftan, Reemdan, Sost, and Gwadar. Senior officials, including Tariq Rangoonwala, termed the move a major step for trade development. The corridor is expected to strengthen Gwadar’s role in regional logistics and expand access to Central Asian markets.
