Higher Education Commission HEC Islamabad is conducting the Law Graduate Assessment Test (Law-GAT) 2026, which is mandatory for law graduates to become eligible for enrolment to the Bar as an Advocate in Pakistan. The test consists of Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs) based on the revised curriculum available on the HEC website, with a qualifying score of 50 out of 100. Law graduates who have completed their Bachelor’s Degree in Law from HEC/PBC-recognized universities (local or foreign) are eligible to apply. Candidates have a maximum of seven attempts to pass the test, and those who have already qualified or are currently enrolled in law programs are ineligible. The test is conducted quarterly in major cities of Pakistan.
Eligibility Criteria:

Completed Bachelor’s Degree in Law or equivalent from HEC/PBC-recognized local or foreign university.

Must not have already qualified the Law-GAT.

Maximum 07 attempts allowed; candidates who have already availed 07 attempts are ineligible.

Must meet any additional criteria as per Pakistan Bar Council (PBC) rules for Bar enrolment.
