WhatsApp is working on “guest chats,” a simple way to text people without a WhatsApp account. First seen in Android beta version 2.25.22.13, it’s now testing with some Android and iOS users.
You make an invite link from “Invite a friend” or your contacts list, then share it by SMS, email, or other apps. Guests click it on phone or desktop, skip downloading the app, and chat in WhatsApp Web after picking a name.
Chats are safe with end-to-end encryption—only you two can read messages, and WhatsApp can’t see them. Check with a QR code. “Guest” shows clearly, but they’re not verified, so confirm who joins before sharing private info.

It’s basic: text only, no groups, photos, videos, stickers, files, or calls. Chats end after 10 days of no use—start a new link to continue. Guests check manually as notifications may not work.
